Seanad Éireann - Volume 98 - 19 May, 1982 Business of Seanad. An Cathaoirleadh An Cathaoirleadh 101 [101] An Cathaoirleadh: Before I call on the next speaker, Senator Barnes gave notice on the Order of Business today that she wished to raise on the Adjournment the following matter: The serious situation that has arisen over the transfer of jurisdiction of family law cases. The Senator was not aware that notice should have been given by 3 p.m. yesterday. In my discretion, I can accept, in exceptional circumstances, shorter notice which I have done. Shorter notice, however, has serious practical difficulties for the Minister involved. In all the circumstances I have decided that the matter is suitable for the Adjournment and that it be taken at 6 p.m., or when the business concludes, whichever is the later. Professor Dooge Professor Dooge Professor Dooge: I should like to express my sincere appreciation to the Cathaoirleach for the manner in which she has exercised her discretion in this matter in respect of a new Senator. It shows the wisdom of the House in choosing her for the office. Seanad Éireann 98 Business of Seanad. General Debate 19820519
