Cathaoirleach Cathaoirleach Cathaoirleach: The arrangement come to yesterday regarding to-day's business, that the stages of all Bills would be concluded to-day, was conditional on certain Bills being received from the Dáil last night. One of the Bills only was received, the Old Age Pensions Bill, and it appears on to-day's Order Paper. The remaining Bills, namely, the Presidential Establishment Bill, the Industrial Alcohol (No. 2) Bill and the Telephone Capital Bill will, I am informed, reach us to-day. In the circumstances, it is for the House to say whether it will meet to-morrow or on Wednesday next to consider them. Perhaps Senators would be good enough to let me have their views. Mr. Douglas Mr. Douglas Mr. Douglas: I am inclined to think that for the good name of the House, we ought to meet next Wednesday unless there are very good reasons against it. Otherwise it would give the impression that we were simply trying to get away because there happens to be an election on. There is a point at which you get to what is indecent haste and, I think, it is probably much better to meet next Wednesday. Mr. MacDermot Mr. MacDermot 438 Mr. MacDermot: I can see no reason for racing these Bills through to-day. [438] On the other hand, I cannot see that it matters very much whether we take them to-morrow or next Wednesday, because it will be purely for the convenience of Senators.
