Seanad Éireann - Volume 14 - 17 October, 1931 Constitution (Amendment No. 17) Bill, 1931—Report Stage. Cathaoirleach Cathaoirleach 2020 Cathaoirleach: There are no amendments for the Report Stage of the Bill—in the circumstances there could not be any. I shall, therefore, put forthwith the question “That the Bill be received for final consideration.” This question is open to be debated, but since the discussion will inevitably range round the whole principle of the Bill, I would suggest to the House that the preferable course will be to dispose of the Report Stage without debate, a division being taken on the question “That the Bill be received for final consideration,” if a division is called for. If this question is [2020] affirmed, we shall pass forthwith to the Fifth Stage and Senators will have until 1 o'clock for a general debate on the Fifth Stage of the Bill. Question put: “That the Bill be received for final consideration.” Colonel Moore Colonel Moore Colonel Moore: Are we going to take the Report Stage now? Cathaoirleach Cathaoirleach Cathaoirleach: I have put the question, Senator. Colonel Moore Colonel Moore Colonel Moore: You did it very quickly. I came in the very moment the door was open after prayers and I did not hear it. Cathaoirleach Cathaoirleach Cathaoirleach: This is the Report Stage. Colonel Moore Colonel Moore Colonel Moore: I thought you said the Final Stage. Are we not allowed to speak on this stage now? Cathaoirleach Cathaoirleach Cathaoirleach: The motion now is “That the Bill be received for final consideration.” You will have an opportunity of speaking on the final stage which follows.
