Dáil Éireann - Volume 687 - 08 July, 2009

Written Answers. - School Placement.

Deputy Deirdre Clune asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will provide a school place in September 2009 for a child (details supplied) in County Cork; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28682/09]

Deputy Batt O’Keeffe: As the Deputy will be aware, the National Council for Special Education (NCSE) is responsible, through its network of local Special Educational Needs Organisers, for allocating resource teachers and Special Needs Assistants to primary and post primary schools to support children with special needs. The NCSE operates within my Department’s criteria in allocating such support.

I understand that the NCSE has been actively working with the family concerned to identify a suitable post-primary placement.
