Written Answers. - Courthouse Restoration.

Deputy Seymour Crawford asked the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government the communication he has engaged in with Monaghan County Council in connection with the restoration of Castleblayney Market House Courthouse which is a focal point in the town; the funding his Department or relevant agencies can make available for the works required to save this listed building; and if he will make a statement on the matter.   Deputy John Gormley: A proposal was previously received in my Department from Monaghan County Council in relation to borrowing to fund essential repairs to the exterior of the Courthouse in Castleblayney. That proposal was not proceeded with and subsequently the Council engaged consultants to prepare a feasibility study on the cost of refurbishing the entire building. It is understood that the report is due to be finalised shortly.
