Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Deputy Kathleen Lynch asked the Minister for Education and Science when he will make a capital allocation for the building programme at a school (details supplied) in County Cork; when the school authorities including the board of management and principal will be informed; the length of time he expects the construction period to last; and if he will make a statement on the matter.   Deputy Batt O’Keeffe: An application for capital funding towards the provision of a new school has been received from the Management Authority of the school referred to by Deputy. Applications for large scale capital funding are assessed and banded in accordance with published prioritisation criteria. These criteria were agreed following consultation with the Education Partners and the progression of individual projects is considered in the context of the multi-annual School Building and Modernisation Programme. It is not possible at this stage to say when construction will commence on the project referred to by the Deputy.
