Dáil Éireann - Volume 653 - 08 May, 2008 Written Answers. - Traffic Management. Deputy Fergus O’Dowd Deputy Fergus O’Dowd Deputy Fergus O’Dowd asked the Minister for Transport if he has had discussions with the Office of Public Works or the Department of Environment Heritage and Local Government to discuss the provision of public service car park spaces in Dublin; if he has plans to promote a sustainable transport policy for Government Departments; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18005/08] Deputy Noel Dempsey Deputy Noel Dempsey Deputy Noel Dempsey: My intention is to publish a Sustainable Travel and Transport Action Plan before the end of the year and my Department is currently considering a wide range of policy options. 1149 The development of the Action Plan is a cross-cutting initiative and there is already substantial engagement with other Government Departments, including the Office of Public Works, which is the key player in allocation of Government buildings, with their associated car spaces. My Department will engage in detailed bilateral discussions with the Office of Public Works [1149] on a range of issues in the next month and I expect that public service car park spaces will feature in those discussions. I believe that the public service, in its widest sense, must strive to become an example of best practice in relation to sustainable travel and transport. Dáil Éireann 653 Written Answers.
