Ms Enright asked the Minister for Education and Science if home tuition will be provided for a person (details supplied) in County Limerick as a matter of urgency; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [8114/07]

  Ms Hanafin: The home tuition scheme provides funding to parents to facilitate the provision of education at home for children who, for a number of reasons such as chronic illness, are unable to attend school. The scheme was extended in recent years to facilitate tuition for children awaiting a suitable educational placement.

I wish to advise the Deputy that my Department has no record of receiving an application for home tuition in respect of the pupil in question. Details of my Department’s home tuition scheme together with an application form may be accessed on my Department’s website www.education.ie.
