Ms O. Mitchell asked the Minister for Transport the progress made on establishing a reciprocal arrangement with Northern Ireland for the awarding of penalty points; when a workable regime is expected to be in place; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25694/06]

  Mr. Cullen:I refer the Deputy to my reply to Question No. 283 on 9th May. Work is ongoing in relation to introducing a system of mutual recognition of lesser offences. It is not envisaged that this will be completed before the end of 2006.
