O’Keeffe asked the Minister for Education and Science if a public private partnership arrangement will be approved by her Department for the development of a primary school (details supplied) in County Cork. [22897/06] Ms Hanafin Ms Hanafin Ms Hanafin: The Office of Public Works, that acts on behalf of my Department in the acquisition of school sites, was requested to source a suitable site on behalf of the school in question. 1319 In the meantime, the school authorities were offered, by a local developer, a new school to be designed and built on land owned by the developer at no cost to the school or the Department. [1319] My Department understands that the school authorities have accepted this offer and that the developer’s project will be overseen by the school. The Department has no objection to the school authorities proceeding with this approach provided they are satisfied that the school will meet their needs. The attention of the school authorities has been drawn to the Technical Guidance documents for school building projects that are available on the Department’s website.
