  120. Mr. Bruton asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of serious assaults in the year to date in 2005 in each Garda district compared to the same period for 2004. [35100/05]

[1040]   Mr. McDowell: I have made inquiries with the Garda authorities about the number of serious assaults in the year to date in 2005 compared to the same period last year. The attached table gives details of the number of assault causing harm offences recorded from 1 January 2004 to 31 October 2004 and 1 January 2005 to 31 October 2005. Figures provided for 2004 and 2005 are provisional operational statistics and liable to change.
