  86. Mr. McGuinness asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Health and Children the funding being allocated by the health services for the treatment of eating disorders. [16868/05]

  Mr. T. O’Malley: The Health Act 2004 provided for the Health Service Executive, which was established on 1 January 2005. Under this Act, the executive has the responsibility to [1628] manage and deliver, or arrange to be delivered on its behalf, health and personal social services. This includes responsibility for funding for mental health services. Accordingly, my Department has requested the chief executive officer for the Health Service Executive to reply directly to the Deputy in this matter.

  Mr. T. O’Malley: The Health Act 2004 provided for the Health Service Executive, which was established on 1 January 2005. Under the Act, the executive has the responsibility to manage and deliver, or arrange to be delivered on its behalf, health and personal social services. This includes the provision of specialist mental health services for children and adolescents. Accordingly, my Department has requested the national director of primary, community and continuing care to investigate the matter raised and to reply directly to the Deputy.
