Bruton asked the Minister for Finance his estimate of the public service pay bill in 2005 based on the target employment levels for the year as outlined in his reply to Parliamentary Question No. 125 of 4 November 2004; the estimated increase in the pay bill over 2004; and the amount of the extra payments represented by the change in public service numbers, the benchmarking awards, the carry-over of existing pay settlements and additional pay increases due to be made in the course of 2005.
