Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Health and Children if the additional funds required to establish diabetes clinics throughout the country will be provided; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21615/03] Mr. Martin Mr. Martin Minister for Health and Children (Mr. Martin): I met with the Diabetes Federation of Ireland last week to discuss issues arising from the federation's report, Diabetes: Securing the Future. It was agreed that a working group representative of the federation and my Department would be established to consider how best diabetic services can be improved nationally. The question of additional funds to establish diabetes clinics throughout the country is a matter for further consideration in this context, and having regard to the level of health service funding in 2004 and subsequent years.
