Dáil Éireann - Volume 568 - 17 June, 2003

Written Answers. - General Practitioner Services.

  368. Mr. Curran asked the Minister for Health and Children the details of the recently announced extension of the DubDoc service in Lucan to give 24 hour emergency cover; the doctors who will operate the scheme; and if all arrangements are in place to provide this service. [16935/03]

Minister for Health and Children (Mr. Martin): DubDoc provides out of hours general practitioner services for patients, both GMS and private, of the participating doctors. An additional amount of €0.467 million was allocated to the Eastern Regional Health Authority to enable it expand its DubDoc service from its present limited hours of operation to a full out-of-hours service. As statutory responsibility for the operation of this service rests with the ERHA, I have asked the chief executive officer of the authority to write to the Deputy regarding the specific issues raised by him.
