Aengus Ó Snodaigh asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if, in view of the interest in the Gaelic Athletic Association and in Irish history, he has been approached or is willing to help secure, restore and preserve the birthplace of GAA stalwart and IRB stalwart Sam Maguire in Dunmanway, County Cork. [9189/03] Mr. Cullen Mr. Cullen Minister for the Environment and Local Government (Mr. Cullen): No contacts have been made with my Department regarding the restoration and preservation of the birthplace of Sam Maguire, nor would it be possible for my Department to assist with the funding of works in this case. The resources of my Department are already fully committed to conserving and maintaining in excess of 700 monuments that are already in State care.
