Dáil Éireann - Volume 511 - 23 November, 1999 Written Answers. - Tax Reliefs. Mr. G. Mitchell Mr. G. Mitchell 192. Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Finance if he will reduce from £200 to £100 the limit for tax deductibility of contributions to overseas aid. [24353/99] Mr. McCreevy Mr. McCreevy Minister for Finance (Mr. McCreevy): I assume the Deputy is referring to section 848 of the Taxes Consolidation Act which provides a tax relief for donations from individuals to designated third world charities. I have received a number of pre-budget submissions seeking a reduction in the de minimis amount from £200 to £100 for tax relief on personal donations to these charities. As is the case with all pre-budget submissions, I can assure the Deputy that these matters will be borne in mind in the preparations for the forthcoming budget. Dáil Éireann 511 Written Answers.
