Dáil Éireann - Volume 510 - 04 November, 1999

Written Answers. - World Trade Centre.

52. Mr. Allen asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if he will make a statement on the Government proposal to construct a world trade centre in Dublin; and if the Government has considered other areas outside of Dublin for this prestigious project. [17758/99]

Minister of State at the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment (Mr. T. Kitt): The Government has taken no steps towards the development of a national trade centre, nor does it have any plans to do so. I am aware of proposals for developments to be known as “the National Trade Centre, Cork” and “the World Trade Centre, Dublin” which are being promoted by separate private sector interests. The location of any such development is a matter for the promoters.
