Mr. Currie asked the Minister for Education and Science whether his Department accepts responsibility for the provision of psychological services to children with disabilities; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21717/97] Minister for Education and Science (Mr. Martin) Micheál Martin Minister for Education and Science (Mr. Martin): Proposals for the establishment of a national educational psychological service were included in the programme for Government. A planning group has been set up and has begun work. I have asked the planning group to report to me early in 1998. The planning group includes representatives of all the partners in education. Its terms of reference include reporting and making recommendations on the provision of a psychological service for children and young people, including those with special needs, in all schools and in other education and training centres supported by my Department.
