O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the reason for the delay in ratification of the Hague Convention abolishing the requirement of legalisation for foreign public documents which was approved by the Government for signature and ratification in 1996; and when the necessary steps will be taken to complete the ratification process. [16123/97] Minister for Foreign Affairs (Mr. Andrews) David Andrews 791 Minister for Foreign Affairs (Mr. Andrews): The Hague Convention abolishing the requirement of legislation for foreign public documents [791] was signed, subject to ratification, on behalf of Ireland on 29 October 1996. The administrative and technical changes necessary to give full effect to the Convention are still the subject of consideration.
