Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry (Mr. Yates) Ivan Yates
Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry (Mr. Yates): Under An Bord Bia Act, 1994, responsibility for food promotion and marketing is vested in An Bord Bia.
As part of its overall home market promotional activities and as a complement to its export marketing programme, An Bord Bia carries out a number of activities to develop high standards in the catering, hotel and restaurants sectors. These include catering seminars, sponsorship of awards, a close liaison with the Restaurants Association of Ireland and Euro-Toques and, more recently, the focus on Irish cuisine as part of the Horizons International Food Exhibition and Conference. In addition the ongoing services of the board's food advisory centre are available to restaurants and caterers.
