194. Mr. Kirk asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to the request from the residents of the Monasterboice area, County Louth to have a full interchange rather than a partial one on the M1 at [686] Monasterboice; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6362/96]

Minister for the Environment (Mr. Howlin): I have received written submissions from residents of the Monasterboice area in relation to the matter referred to following the public consultation process in relation to the Northern Motorway (Gormanston-Monasterboice) Motorway Scheme, 1995. A public local inquiry is being arranged into this motorway scheme at which interested persons can make their views known to the inspector. My Department will give prior notice in the press, and inform those who made written submissions, of the date, time and venue of the inquiry. I will consider the report of the inspector, and all written submissions received before the prescribed closing date and not withdrawn, before reaching a decision in the matter.
