143. Mr. S. Brennan asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications if he will have arrangements made to investigate the provision of television channels (details supplied) in County Kilkenny; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4860/95]

Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications (Mr. Lowry): At the request of my Department, the company which holds the franchise for this area has carried out extensive research and testing. It has identified a number of difficulties, some technical and some involving issues, such as the lack of permission from local householders or landowners to site equipment on their premises.

I am currently having a technical inspection of the area carried out by officers of my Department, the results of which I will communicate to the Deputy as soon as they are to hand.
