Mr. Noonan (Limerick East) asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications if any grants or subsidies are available through his Department to any private contractor involved in the recycling of domestic and commercial waste. Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications (Mr. Cowen) Brian Cowen Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications (Mr. Cowen): My primary interest is in the potential to use waste as an energy source. While grants are not available for the generation of energy from waste, this is an area where I will be examining the possibilities for development.
