Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will consider pursuing with the EC authorities the establishment of a marketing and distribution fund for Ireland in relation to the increased sale of Irish beef products in EC supermarkets, especially on the Continent in view of Ireland's peripherality.

[1872] Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry (Mr. J. Walsh): I intend, in accordance with the Programme for Government to make maximum use of the resources to become available under the new EC Structural Funds regime to develop increased sales of Irish food abroad including sales of beef to Continental markets.
