73. Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Finance if he will request the Revenue Commissioners to reconsider the decision to reject the application from the new owner of the former Church of St. George, Hardwick Place, Dublin 1, for a theatre licence in view of its necessity if the work of preservation and development of this important building is to proceed.

Minister for Finance (Mr. B. Ahern): I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that the application in question is being considered under section 7 of the Excise Act, 1835.

The Commissioners are examining the matter and consulting with other interested Departments and bodies. They will decide on the application as soon as possible.
