Dáil Éireann - Volume 414 - 17 December, 1991

Written Answers. - Ronanstown (Dublin) Sports Hall.

263. Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for Education if, in view of the special needs of Ronanstown, Clondalkin, Dublin 22, he will acknowledge the urgency in providing, among other things, a sports hall for Collinstown Park community college; and if provision will be made in the Estimates for 1992 to provide this facility; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Minister for Education (Mr. Davern): As the Deputy will be aware, there are many applications before my Department for the provision of new schools and extensions and for the funding of urgent repairs to sub-standard accommodation. In recent years, therefore, it has been necessary to devote the available capital resources to the provision and repair of urgently needed classroom accommodation.

In the circumstances, I am not in a position at present to provide funding for the proposal in question.
