84. Mr. Nealon asked the Minister for the Marine if any studies have been carried out on the spending and consequent value to the economy of a typical salmon angler who is attracted to the Moy Fishery, Ballina, County Mayo for a two to four week period.

Minister for the Marine (Mr. Wilson): No specific studies have been carried out in relation to the value to the economy derived from the spending of salmon anglers who fish the Moy Fishery.

In reply to the Deputy, however, I would refer him to my replies to Question No. 61 on 5 June 1991 and Nos. 34, 36 and 40 on 10 July 1991, which included information on the findings of the Economic Social Research Institute's Economic Evaluation of Irish Angling (1988).
