Dáil Éireann - Volume 411 - 24 October, 1991 Written Answers. - Medical Fees Reimbursement. Mr. Allen Mr. Allen 17. Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health if he will make a statement on recent reports (details supplied) that Irish doctors have complained of major delays in obtaining re-imbursement of medical fees from the health boards. Minister for Health (Dr. O'Hanlon) Rory O'Hanlon Minister for Health (Dr. O'Hanlon): In May this year a circular letter in respect of refunds for medical defence fees for non-consultant hospital doctors issued to each health board. Pending clarification of certain issues involved, some delays did occur in issuing refunds. However, I understand that health boards now have a mechanism in place to ensure that refunds are issued within a reasonable period after presentation of the renewal certificate. I am not aware of any serious delays in the reimbursement of medical defence fees from health boards to hospital consultants. Dáil Éireann 411 Written Answers. Medical Fees Reimbursement.
