Written Answers. - Defence Forces Enlistment Application.

240. Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for Defence the reason a person (details supplied) in County Meath has not received any response to his request for an application to obtain a place in the Defence Forces, despite the fact that an acknowledgment was received stating that the application was being dealt with; [307] and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Minister for Defence (Mr. Daly): There is no record of the person referred to by the Deputy having applied for enlistment in the Permanent Defence Force. The Deputy was in touch with my Department previously regarding a person of the same address and with the same surname but with a different christian name. At that time the Deputy was informed that the person in question should be advised to make an application for enlistment at Dundalk Military Barracks. I understand that to date, no such application has been made.
