[298] 220. Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Education the reason for the delay in awarding the contract for the erection of a general purpose room at the Bekan primary school, Claremorris, County Mayo.

Minister for Education (Mrs. O'Rourke): I would refer the Deputy to my reply to his Parliamentary Question No. 72 on 24 May 1989 regarding the provision of a general purposes room at Bekan national school, Claremorris, County Mayo.

I have approved, however, a permanent extension to the school which will contain one classroom and the preparation of tender documents is in hands. These will be completed at the earliest possible date when the question of the invitation of tenders will be considered and a decision conveyed to the school authorities.
