173. Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Health the number of persons employed in each health board in the provision of home help or care attendance as measured in man hours or whole time equivalent; and the number of persons who received help in each year since 1987.

These figures relate to May 1990.

The figures quoted include both home helps employed direct by the health boards and by voluntary organisations funded by the boards.

Details of the number of persons who receive help each year are recorded at local level but are not readily available to my Department.
