86. Mr. Cosgrave asked the Minister for Finance if he will outline the number of persons working in his private office; the number of established civil servants and temporary staff employed in the office; the total cost in each case for the years 1975, 1980, 1985 and 1990; and if he will provide the same details for the office of his Minister of State for the same years.

Minister for Finance (Mr. A. Reynolds): The following is the information requested in respect of my office and the office of the Minister of State for the year 1990.

There are 18 established civil servants working in the Minister's office at a total annual cost of £225,397. Three temporary staff are employed at a total annual cost of £52,241.

There are six established civil servants [1064] working in the Minister of State's office (OPW) at a total annual cost of £72,354. Three temporary staff are employed at a total annual cost of £31,813.

It is not possible to provide the information requested in respect of the years 1975, 1980 and 1985 in the time available.
