Dáil Éireann - Volume 400 - 27 June, 1990

Written Answers. - Industrial Policy Review.

22. Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the reasons the triennial review of industrial policy required under section 6 of the Industrial Development Act, 1986, which he informed Dáil Éireann on 15 February 1990, would be completed within a [1024] matter of weeks, has not yet been published; if it is intended to publish the report before the Dáil summer recess; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Minister for Industry and Commerce (Mr. O'Malley): Because of pressure of commitments arising from Ireland's presidency of the European Community it has not been possible to finalise the report on the second triennial review of industrial performance within the time schedule originally envisaged.

I expect that the report will be published very shortly. I cannot, however, make any commitment that publication will necessarily take place before the Dáil summer recess.
