Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he will make a statement on the purpose and outcome of the visit of the Irish Ambassador from Beijing to the Chinese province of Qinghai, which includes the annexed Tibetan province of Amdo, on 27 April, 1990; and if the Ambassador met any Tibetan nationals. Minister for Foreign Affairs (Mr. Collins) Gerard Collins Minister for Foreign Affairs (Mr. Collins): The Irish Ambassador visited Qinghai as chairman of the Ambassadors of EC countries in Beijing. The visit was one of a series to Chinese provinces for the purposes of getting to know China and disseminating information within China on developments in the EC.
