Dáil Éireann - Volume 398 - 22 May, 1990 Written Answers. - Housing Capital Allocation. Mr. Quinn Mr. Quinn 172. Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for the Environment the number of houses for which sanction has been given for construction/acquisition and for refurbishment; and the total net number of dwellings to become available for letting or reletting as a result of the capital allocation. Minister of State at the Department of the Environment (Mr. Connolly) Minister of State at the Department of the Environment (Mr. Connolly) 2348 Minister of State at the Department of the Environment (Mr. Connolly): I would refer the Deputy to the reply to Question No. 144 of 13 March 1990 which gives details of the number of approved starts/acquisitions for each local authority for 1990. Due to the varied nature and cost of the works involved in refurbishment schemes and the necessity to undertake projects on a phased basis, the number of dwellings the refurbishment of which will be funded in 1990 or which will as a result become available for reletting is not available at this stage. It is [2348] estimated that some 1,200 dwellings will be completed/acquired in 1990 and become available for letting with a further 1,100 houses in progress at the year's end; a breakdown by authority is not available at this stage.
