Dáil Éireann - Volume 383 - 20 October, 1988 Written Answers. - Cape Clear Island (County Cork) Electricity Supply System Mr. Sheehan Mr. Sheehan 30. Mr. Sheehan asked the Minister for Energy the steps his Department has taken to ensure that the Electricity Supply Board in conjunction with his Department will purchase the integrated wind/diesel/battery electricity supply system on Cape Clear Island, County Cork for the German interest involved in this EC energy demonstration project. Mr. J. Bruton Mr. J. Bruton 32. Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Energy the future he envisages for the wind generation plant on Cape Clear Island, County Cork. Minister for Energy (Mr. R. Burke) Minister for Energy (Mr. R. Burke) Minister for Energy (Mr. R. Burke): I propose to take Questions Nos. 30 and 32 together. There is no question of my Department becoming directly involved in the purchase of the equipment which was put in place by private interests under the EC Demonstration Grant Programme at Cape Clear. I understand that commercial negotiations are taking place between the ESB and the owners of this equipment but it would be inappropriate for me to intervene in these negotiations. Regardless of the outcome, the islanders will continue to have electricity supply. Dáil Éireann 383 Written Answers. Cape Clear Island (County Cork) Electricity Supply System Questions 19881020
