Dáil Éireann - Volume 383 - 19 October, 1988

Written Answers. - County Roads.

235. Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for the Environment the communication he has received from each county council as regards the condition of county roads within that council's area in response to his Department's circular issued in May 1987 concerning the condition of the network of county roads; the information he has received including the estimated level of expenditure required to remedy deficiencies in the county road network in respect of each county area; the moneys which have been supplied by his Department to date to enable each county to carry out all necessary remedial works on county roads in their county area; and the further moneys which are required.

Minister for the Environment (Mr. Flynn): The proposed Blueprint for Road Development will include data received from local authorities and from the County and City Engineers' Association relating to the condition of county roads. The blueprint will also analyse the data and outline future policy concerning these roads.

I intend to publish the blueprint later this year.
