Written Answers. - Tree Felling Offences.

98. Mr. Wilson asked the Minister for Tourism, Fisheries and Forestry his plans to increase the £5 fine for the cutting of trees without permission.

Minister for Tourism, Fisheries and Forestry (Mr. Kavanagh): My Department is at present preparing draft legislation to amend the Forestry Acts which will provide, inter alia, for substantially increased penalties for offences under those Acts. I hope to be in a position to introduce this amending Bill at an early date.
