83. Miss Harney asked the Minister for Education the number of child care courses in regional technical colleges in Ireland; and the cost per capita of these courses.

84. Miss Harney asked the Minister for Education the total allocation towards the provision of training of personnel for pre-school child care facilities.

Minister for Education (Mr. Cooney): I propose to take Questions Nos. 83 and 84 together. The position at present is that child care courses are available in the regional technical colleges in Athlone, Cork, Galway, Sligo and Waterford. A child care course is also available in the College of Catering, Cathal Brugha Street, Dublin. Per capita costs of the [1728] individual courses are not readily available.
