257. Mr. O'Kennedy asked the Minister for Finance the level of (a) the national debt and (b) the accumulated foreign debt as of 31 December 1984.

Minister for Finance (Mr. Dukes): The national debt at 31 December 1984, is estimated to have been £18.5 billion, of which £7.9 billion was accumulated foreign debt.
