460. Mrs. O'Rourke asked the Minister for the Environment if he will explain the position regarding payments of loans in County Westmeath from the Housing Finance Agency; and the length of time current loan applicants will be awaiting finance.

Minister for the Environment (Mr. Kavanagh): In common with other areas the administration of the Housing Finance Agency loan scheme in County Westmeath is undertaken on the agency's behalf by the county council. The agency is entirely responsible for the distribution among local authorities of the funds allocated to it under the Public Capital Programme. I understand from the agency that all requests from Westmeath County Council for funds to enable loans to be paid to individual borrowers have been met.
