138. Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Education the position in respect of the replacement and renovation of vocational schools in County Mayo; the position relating to approval and sanction of grants in each case; where renovations are due to take place; and when he expects that work will commence in each case.

Minister for Education (Mr. Wilson): New vocational school premises at Achill, Belmullet and Castlebar and a major extension of Ballina Vocational School are at present under construction at an estimated cost of £2.4 million.

An extension to Westport Vocational School has been approved and planning on the project has commenced. It is not possible at this stage to state when building work may commence.
