Mr. Quinn asked the Taoiseach if the National Board for Science and Technology have undertaken any studies in relation to the cost benefits of energy consumption in the Dublin region and the improvement of the public transport services, particularly the services operated by CIE on both road and rail; if he will give details of the studies undertaken by the board or any studies which are currently in progress; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Taoiseach: The National Board for Science and Technology has not undertaken any specific investigation in relation to the cost benefits aspects of energy consumption in the Dublin region and particularly in relation to transport by road and rail but they expect shortly to publish a general report on energy and road transportation.
