Written Answers. - Howth Harbour Development.

281. Mr. M. Cosgrave asked the details from the Office of Public Works as to the future development of Howth harbour, County Dublin; and if he will provide detailed plans of the scheme to Balscadden Bay Fishermen's Co-operative.

282. Mr. M. Cosgrave asked the Minister for Fisheries if he intends to have Howth fishing harbour, County Dublin, dredged as a matter of urgency thus enabling fishermen to use it without causing damage to their vessels due to low water within the harbour.

Minister for Fisheries (Mr. Lenihan): With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle I propose to take Questions Nos. 281 and 282 together. A detailed plan for a major improvement scheme for Howth harbour in the fishery interests has been approved. It was discussed with representatives of the Balscadden Bay Fisheries Co-operative Limited.

The co-operative have been given copies of the plan which includes dredging of the western part of the [418] harbour. I might add that the Office of Public Works have been asked to proceed with the implementation of the plan as expeditiously as possible.
