O'Leary asked the Minister for the Public Service if he will arrange with the Civil Service Commission to allocate a certain number of places on each panel for recruitment to the public service to physically handicapped persons who are educationally qualified. Mr. R. Ryan Mr. R. Ryan Mr. R. Ryan: Physically handicapped persons who are educationally qualified and are capable of doing the duties concerned have always been eligible to compete at competitions for appointments in the civil service. However, the question whether it would be possible to provide better opportunities for such persons to secure appointments is at present being considered. Mr. Lemass Mr. Lemass Mr. Lemass: Will the Minister state whether the number of people in this category who are employed in the public service has increased or decreased in the last two years? Mr. R. Mr. Lemass Mr. Lemass Mr. Lemass: Am I correct in saying that in the Office of Public Works there has been a reduction of at least one handicapped person in employment there? Mr. R. Ryan Mr. R.
