[1529] 15. Mr. J. Gibbons asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he will indicate the research which his Department have done on the prospects for beef in the next few years.

Mr. Clinton: My Department keep the prospects for beef production, consumption and trade under constant review. This is undertaken in close collaboration with expert international bodies including the EEC Commission, the Food and Agriculture Organisation, the Economic Commission for Europe and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. My Department are closely involved in the on-going studies on medium- and long-term prospects for beef being carried out by these organisations.

Mr. J. Gibbons: Will the Minister consider a request from me that the results and findings of these studies, which are a continuous process in his Department, be made available to will arrange for the provision of a monthly or a two-monthly basis?
