Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Conservation Fund.
Mr. Lemass Mr. Lemass
7. Mr. Lemass asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will make arrangements to ensure that portion of the funds that accrue to the Government from off-shore oil properties will be used for the purposes of a land and water conservation fund to be administered by the National Trust and to designate further areas as national parks.
Mr. Keating Mr. Keating
Mr. Keating: If substantial discoveries of petroleum are made in this country's Continental Shelf these will not begin to yield an appreciable amount of money to the State for several years. The application of such funds would be a matter for the Government in the context of overall budgetary considerations at the time.
