Mr. Desmond asked the Taoiseach if he will set out side by side the present weekly wages of forestry workers, road workers and farm workers in the form of a reply of 21st July, 1971. The Taoiseach Liam Cosgrave The Taoiseach: The following statement gives for each county the present (a) basic weekly time rates of wages paid to forestry workers (b) weekly rates of wages, excluding service pay, paid by county councils to road labourers and (c) the minimum weekly rates payable to adult male agricultural workers under the Agricultural Wages (Minimum Rates) (No. 2) Order, 1973. In the case of forestry workers an incentive bonus is payable in addition to the basic weekly time rates.
(i) Rate of £22.20 per week in the Urban District of Bray. (ii) Rate of £21.80 per week in the D.E.Ds of Ballyglass and Cappavilla. (iii) Rate of £22.20 per week in Cork County Borough and certain D.E.Ds adjacent to the city and the Urban District of Cobh; rate of £21.45 per week in the Western portion of the County as defined in the Agricultural Wages (Minimum Rates) (No. 2) Order, 1973.
