43. Mr. Cowen asked the Minister for Transport and Power when the proposed extension to Shannonbridge power station, County Offaly, will commence.

[24] Mr. B. Lenihan: I am informed by the ESB that a contract for preliminary site development work on the Shannonbridge extension has been completed. Work on the main boiler and turbine contracts is proceeding and some parts for the turbines have already been fabricated and tested. Work at the site will commence on the arrival of machinery and plant.
